I just finished reading my sister's blog and am touched by her experiences. I tried to write about my experience and when I read this I can only relate her story and quote from her blog....She tells the story of her stubborn children fighting over a seat in the van on Sunday while trying to make it to church on time. She speaks of trying to connect with a "silent" God as she searches for an answer to prayer. When she is sitting after the church meeting a leader in her ward (who has an Italian accent) speaks to her about her son (who has caused some of the strife) and how wonderful he is and all the good things he is doing and how is she doing etc.
Quote:"He's a pretty good kid," I acknowledge, and as I say it, I can feel the truth of what this man is saying in my bones. This was a middle-aged, bespectacled man speaking to me, but I heard the voice of God in my extremities. It's going to be okay. Your efforts will be enough. You are not alone.Your best effort is enough. You are not alone. God hears and answers prayer--sometimes in an Italian accent, and often when you least expect it--but His grace is ever-sufficient.
"God does notice us and He watches over us, but it is usually through another person that he meets our needs." (Spencer W. Kimball, 1895-1985.)
I hope she doesn't mind me using this but it helped me remember many things. Tonight 2 people came over and shoveled the foot of snow that had piled up this afternoon! I felt loved and cared for. As I contemplate all of the people who have shown care or served us during this time I am truly blessed. The phone calls, the emails, the comments on facebook and the blog. My sister in law and her neighbors came and made sure all my snow was shoveled before I got home! That is alot of snow! Bringing my kids all the way down to Vancouver to see us for a week. Christina's concern and caring and knowledge that keeps me informed and feeling safe. Watching and caring for my children. It seems a village raised my kids while I was away. My van was cared for and my home was safe.Uncle picking up mail and Nic and Dean running our company so we can still pay bills. Even my dog was happy thanks to Max and friends!(My sister in laws dog and cat) Erin got better grades than ever before and I have strengthened my marriage! My relationship with J's parents is stronger. I could go on and on! I was feeling overwhelmed yesterday and today and wondering who this woman was(me) and why her life was so stressful. I felt like I was watching a stranger from the outside. I have changed somehow. I would start to react and think one way and then slowly see how strange it was and I would stop and choose a different path. I need to chill out! Life and reality set in and I was getting frustrated with things. The van starter wasn't working and it was cold and blowing snow! I wanted to have a fit cause the last thing I wanted to do was go out and start my van! I wanted to just push my button and be done with it.It is only November and I am done with winter! Nope! Then I just stopped and it was over. I solved things and let other go. I started opening mail. More and more and more mail. Bills and more things that needed my attention. Then a card from a friend. It was humbling to read the words written and the gift given. I knew then that I was being looked after. I knew before but somehow we seem to have to be reminded over and over! Thank you Stefan and Ruth and Wanda! I had to take Erin to work and out of habit pushed the starter key.....it worked! It hasn't for 2 days and it suddenly works!! Not sure why but Im not going to quesiton it.
J had clinic today and all his results came back good and normal. He is really struggling with emotions and being weepy. The poops are back but they are now saying to just take Imodium. He says it is getting better. His day surgery for getting the stint out is DEC 6. It is minor day clinic procedure. They have now graduated him to clinic once a week instead of 2 a week so he is ecstatic about that! So now he only has to be busy and bored on Wednesdays. He says the thunder in the city is way more intense than he has ever heard. It must echo off those tall buildings around him.
