Let's start from the very beginning...a very good place to start....

So many are wondering how this happened.  Well from what we understand Jason was born with a disease called IgA Nephropathy.  It is not considered a hereditary disease but they see it cluster in certain families and in certain areas of the world.  This disease is sometimes called "Berger's Disease"  from a French guy who first discovered it.  

In 2004 we wanted to get life insurance and so they did the normal testing stuff and told us that Jason needed to do another test because there was protien in his urine.  (They don't like to give life insurance to sick people)  So he did another test that came back normal and got our insurance....whew!  

In 2005 J got very sick and noticed his urine was brown!   Not good.  He was running a fever and a never ending chest infection.  We went to the doctor and this is when the tests started and we were sent to Edmonton for a biopsy.  Painful and not fun!  We were told he had this disease and that it was not curable and sent home.  (yes we are still wondering why we weren't sent to the kidney clinic then!)  So they gave him some drugs that made him sick and so he chucked them and all symptoms went away and he felt fine so that was the end of it.  Now we know that if we had been referred to the clinic then that he could have been on a special diet and monitored every 3months and none of this would need to happen!  Not to mention the medicine we thought was just a blood pressure medication was actually something that there was different forms of and levels of dosage that would have saved his kidneys!  .....Let's forgive and move on cause there is nothing that can be done now. In Jason's words..."I don't live in America where they sue everyone!"  My husband the True North Canadian Strong and Free!  When we found out all of his meds including his vitiamins and equipment is all covered he was singing the national anthem!

So we move on to this past year of migraines, itchy skin for no reason, metalic tastes and smells from his breath and skin,  frothy urine,  forgetting everything! ( Yahoo!  this will be fixed! I will be a secretary no more!)  Leg cramps, high blood pressure, high foamy urine, blood in the urine, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, loss of apetite.  yada yada yada!  I just thought he was a male!  nope!   3 weeks ago he could seem to get over a chest cough and he had a rash develop all over his chest.  So away to the Dr. again and he says "Hey I haven't seen you for quite some time lets do some more tests.  Tests come back and he refers us to a new kidney specialist in town.  Go see him and he says,"  Yes you have high blood pressure so lets get you on  a medication for that and do some more tests.  Then we get a call Wednesday morning June 18 at 7:30 am from a lady (angel) in Prince George telling us that his Kidneys are functioning at 9%(both together!) and we need to come there and see them at the clinic!
